HVAC

Being in desert conditions, where “outboard” temperature reaches +50°C, and proximity to the sea becomes the main cause of high humidity, the question of secure ventilation, air-conditioning and air purification arises. Ventilation equipment serves for constant air exchange processes indoors, while excess of moisture and harmful substances are removed by means of air circulation. Depending on destination of premises and air requirements, the selection of ventilation equipment, methods of air distribution, construction and places of equipment location, as well as their interaction with conditioning systems is made. Ventilation systems are subdivided into 4 major categories as per type of air supply:

  • Ventilating units, enabling air supply directly to the work area, are generally recommended for premises, where convection flows, generated by heated equipment, contribute to ejection of heat and hazardous admixtures into the top zone.

  • Units, enabling air supply to the work area by means of vertical flows, are widely spread in industrial premises, as well as public buildings.

  • Units, enabling air supply to the work area on-the-mitre. This type of air supply has been widely used lately in lots of modern buildings that are characterized by considerable size of grid columns.

  • Units, enabling air supply to the work area by means of horizontal flows, that are being damped down outside the work area— «concentrated» air supply, work zone is surrounded by reversed flow.

In the climate conditions of the UAE where excess of humid and hot air is observed, air-conditioner became an integral part of people’s life, their work and leisure. Spectrum of types and sorts of air-conditioners is extremely wide. All air-conditioners are usually divided into three categories:

  • For the conditioning of small premises household air-conditioners are used — RAC category (Room Air Condition). It is mono- and split-systems with power capacity up to 6-8 kW. As a rule, household split systems are on wall models of air-conditioners, though the market has a wide range of cassette, channel and universal model with capacity mentioned.

  • For the conditioning 60-80 m2 to 200-300 m2 areas, semi industrial conditioners are used — PAC category (Packaged Air Condition). All split-systems of channel, cassette, floor standing and ceiling types are referred to this type. Their power capacity comprises 6 kW (by some classifications — more than 8 kW).

  • For the premises and buildings of large areas with single system of air-conditioning and ventilation industrial AC models are used. Systems with power capacity over 20-25kW are meant here.

Household and semi-industrial systems of air conditioning are subdivided, apart from power capacity (productivity) and type of control, by the type of construction into mono blocks and split-systems. It is worth paying special attention to industrial systems. There are four types of industrial air conditioning:

  • Floor-ceiling split systems. They can help if traditional systems show power insufficiency. It can be installed horizontally on the ceiling, or vertically on the wall.

  • Cassette split systems are optimal for use in non-residential units, that are mounted under the ceiling, that doesn’t influence the design of the room.

  • Column conditioners of advanced power, that got the name by its form, can be mounted on the floor in premises with high pass ability.

  • Channel split-systems are developed for the supply of cooled air flow into different zones and rooms. The system itself is located in a special place. Model range includes low-lift, mid-lift and high-lift systems.

  • Multi split-systems — usual and invertor — intended for all types of premises. Depending on tasks, the construction can enable two, three or more compressors. With the help of air flow distribution control it is possible to air condition premises different by space area at a minimum noise level.
